Geoff Huegill has spoken candidly about his decision to move from Australia to Singapore following his divorce from his wife Sara.

The former Olympic swimmer, 42, told The Sunday Telegraph this weekend, the move to Southeast Asia helped him build a new life with his partner Roxan Toll and their son Rafe.

“I never had to leave Australia, I wanted to leave,” he said.

“I wanted to do something different. I just wanted to get on with it. It’s a good place and there are a lot of good job opportunities and a good chance for me to keep my head down,” he added.

Geoff made headlines in 2014 after he and his ex-wife Sara were allegedly found in a suite at Royal Randwick with a small amount of cocaine.

Both pleaded guilty to drug possession and were given six-month bonds for good conduct.

In 2018, Geoff and Sara announced via Instagram that they had “amicably” ended their marriage.

Geoff said in the statement: “It is with a heavy heart that Sara and I, after 13 years together, have made the decision to part ways amicably.

“We will remain friends because our focus will always be on providing a positive, loving and bright future for our girls.”

Geoff and Sara were married in 2011 in Bali, Indonesia, and have two children: daughters Gigi, nine, and Mila, seven.

The divorce followed a difficult year for the Huegills, after Sara was arrested for shoplifting in May before the charges were dropped three months later due to her “mental health issues.”

Geoff is currently preparing to appear as a participant in the upcoming season of SAS Australia.
