Jono Castano denounces trolls who attacked his model girlfriend Simone Holtznagel for her ‘triggering’ weight loss – and insists her ‘healthy’ lifestyle doesn’t encourage eating disorders
Celebrity trainer Jono Castano has accused social media trolls of “bullying” his model girlfriend Simone Holtznagel after her dramatic weight loss.
Simone, 29, caused a backlash Monday after sharing before and after photos on Instagram highlighting her weight loss, which she achieved under the tutelage of Jono and UFC coach Tony Saad.
But some of her followers, including those recovering from eating disorders, said her transformation photos were “triggering” for people starving themselves to stay thin.
Jono Castano has accused social media trolls of “bullying” his girlfriend Simone Holtznagel after her dramatic weight loss. The 29-year-old model caused a backlash on Monday after sharing these before and after photos on Instagram highlighting her weight loss under Jono’s tutelage.
Jono, a high-profile PT whose clients include Rita Ora, Rebel Wilson, Michael Clarke and Candice Warner, helped his new girlfriend get in shape.
Defending his methods and Simone’s transformation, Jono posted a video to Instagram on Friday in which he insisted the Australian Next Top Model star had achieved her results through exercise and healthy eating — not by starving herself.
“Simone did it in a healthy way,” he said. “She has found the love for food, she has found the consistency and balance for training.
“You can’t bully someone and say horrible things about their journey. You’re doing exactly what people don’t want in 2022, aren’t you?’

Jono added: ‘We don’t live in that world where people write anything.
“People have feelings, Simone has feelings too, and so do everyone who is… [weight loss] trip.
‘My clients have read it, they are following the weight loss program. It’s effective. It’s a toxic world we live in, so when you write comments, think about what you write, because I’ve worked with people with eating disorders before, I’ve helped them.”

Simone has had backlash since revealing her body transformation, but said on Tuesday she ignored what her critics had to say.
“People have commented that it’s ‘triggering’ and that ‘before and after’ don’t belong in 2022…” she told The Daily Telegraph.
“I thought what we weren’t doing in 2022 was commenting on other people’s bodies.
‘I thought I looked great on the left’ [before photo]. I think I look great on the right [after photo].
“One thing I want to get out of that post is that you can’t please everyone. I’ve been bigger and smaller, but I was happy in both phases of my life.’
Simone and Jono went public with their relationship in May when they were spotted dining in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs
Jono and Simone first met several years ago when she was one of the trainer’s most prominent clients.
They initially kept their romance a secret before going public in May when they kissed passionately at Mimi’s restaurant in Coogee.
The genetically blessed stars came in after just three months of dating.
Simone claims she still eats pasta four nights a week and never denies herself a glass of wine or a cocktail when she feels like it.
Jono believes that no one has the right to criticize Simone’s healthy lifestyle.
“Simone’s journey was her own journey, in a healthy and balanced way, there is nothing wrong with that,” he said.
“Read between the lines of the caption, don’t attack anyone.”
